New York, October 28, 2026 - The chamber concert «Shamshi Alemi» was held in New York to mark the Republic Day of Kazakhstan. An audience of approximately 150 heard songs by Shamshi Kaldayakov performed in English. The concert marked the final stop on the international tour of the «Shamshi 100» project, which celebrates the upcoming centenary of the composer’s birth in 2030.
The audience included diplomats, musicians, members of the business and academic communities, members of the Kazakh diaspora, and students from Kazakhstan. Soloists from the Abai Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre and members of the composer’s family took part in the tour.
The tour began on October 21 in Madrid, where the songs were performed in Spanish with orchestral accompaniment. On October 24, the artists performed French versions of the songs in Paris. The project included new arrangements of 35 songs and poetic translations of 20 works.
The «Shamshi Alemi» Public Foundation carried out the project with support from the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation.
