Corrections Policy

The editorial team of “News Portal” is committed to the accuracy and reliability of what it publishes. Despite the verification procedures in place, errors can occur. If an inaccuracy or factual error is found after publication, the editorial team investigates and, where necessary, makes corrections.

1. How to report an error

  1. A factual error, inaccuracy or outdated information can be reported to info@example.com or by phone at +7 (000) 000-00-00.
  2. A report should state the page address, describe the inaccuracy and, where possible, link to a source confirming the correct information.
  3. The editorial team's contact details are also listed on the Contacts page.

2. How reports are handled

  1. Every error report is reviewed by the editorial team. Where necessary, the journalist or editor verifies the information again using available sources, documents and comments from participants in events.
  2. If the error is confirmed, the editorial team decides what corrections to make. The applicant is informed of the outcome using the contact details provided.
  3. A report is reviewed within 10 business days. If verification requires more time, the editorial team informs the applicant.
  4. The editorial team may decline to make a correction where the applicant disputes an assessment or opinion published in the item rather than factual information.

3. What corrections are possible

  1. Depending on the nature of the error, the editorial team may:
    • correct a factual inaccuracy in the text of the item;
    • supplement the item with new confirmed information;
    • update the item as events develop;
    • add a clarification or an editorial note;
    • withdraw the item from publication where required by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan or by editorial standards.
  2. Where a correction affects the meaning of the item, the editorial team states in the text that the item has been updated or corrected and, where possible, what the change was.

4. Recording changes

  1. Where changes materially affect the meaning of a publication, the editorial team states that the item has been updated or corrected.
  2. Technical corrections that do not affect the meaning of the item (fixing typos, punctuation or formatting) are not recorded separately.
  3. An item withdrawn from publication may be retained in the editorial archive for internal purposes.

5. Corrections in social media and newsletters

  1. If a factual error was made in a publication by the editorial team in social media or in an official newsletter, the editorial team corrects the publication or posts a clarification, as the platform allows.
  2. Where a correction is not possible, the publication is deleted with the reason stated, where the platform's rules permit.

6. Responsibility of the editorial team

  1. Correcting errors is part of editorial work and is not regarded as a defect in the editorial process. The editorial team considers prompt correction of inaccuracies an important element of trust between the editorial team and its readers.
  2. How material is prepared is described in the Editorial Policy and the Editorial Standards.
  3. If a reader believes their right of reply has been infringed, they may contact the editorial team in the manner provided for by the Editorial Policy.
