For the first time, a female servicemember has joined the ranks of the National Guard’s “Bürkit” Special Forces Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Kymbat, known by her call sign “Kitana,” represented Kazakhstan at international competitions and has now become a member of one of the country’s most elite special forces units.
Kymbat’s path to “Bürkit” began at the international SWAT Challenge held in Dubai. She competed as part of the “Tomiris” women’s team representing Kazakhstan. In the women’s category, the Kazakh athletes outperformed their rivals to take first place. In the overall team standings, they secured 18th place, finishing ahead of several men’s teams.
During the competition, Kitana demonstrated exceptional marksmanship, attracting the attention of “Bürkit” special forces personnel. She was invited to join the unit. Without hesitation, she accepted the offer, becoming the first female combatant in the history of the “Bürkit” special forces unit.
Kymbat has an impressive record of sporting achievements. She is a six-time national champion of Kazakhstan in hand-to-hand combat, a silver and two-time bronze medalist at world championships, as well as a silver medalist at the World Cup and European and Asian championships.
In jiu-jitsu, she has won world and Asian championship titles three times and is a two-time European champion. In MMA, she has won the national and Asian championship titles, while in combat sambo she has become Kazakhstan’s national champion and a bronze medalist at the World Championship.
At the World Police and Fire Games, Kymbat also won gold in judo and silver in jiu-jitsu. She holds the title of Master of Sport of International Class in hand-to-hand combat and jiu-jitsu, and Master of Sport in sambo and MMA.
Kymbat’s main goal now is to successfully pass the maroon beret qualification test. It demands outstanding physical fitness, endurance and unbreakable strength of character. If she succeeds, she will become the first woman in the history of the National Guard to earn the right to wear the maroon beret.
