Based on the results of the first half of the current year, a steady positive dynamic in the key indicators of tourism industry development is observed in the Katon-Karagay district. During the reporting period, the tourist flow amounted to approximately 11.5 thousand people. The volume of services provided in the tourism sector demonstrated a twofold increase compared to the same period, reaching a figure of 483.6 million tenge.
Currently, the material and technical base and tourism infrastructure of the district are represented by 66 accommodation facilities, with a total simultaneous capacity of 1,289 beds.
As part of the systematic work to improve the quality of provided services and expand the room capacity, a number of significant investment projects are being implemented within the district. These include:
- modernization and capacity expansion of the 'Verkh-Katun' pantotherapy clinic;
- construction of the modern 'Altay Resort' tourist complex;
- infrastructure development of the 'MuzTau' eco-hotel;
- scaling of the 'Qaton Qaragai Resort&SPA' sanatorium-resort complex.
In accordance with the instructions of the regional leadership, the key strategic objective is the positioning and further promotion of the Katon-Karagay district as an independent tourist destination of an international level.
The priority vector of work is the formation of a comprehensive environment for the prolonged stay of tourists. The implementation of this strategy is aimed at stimulating demand for the services of small and medium-sized businesses in the region, creating new jobs, and ensuring the sustainable growth of return tourism.
